Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-07-23 / This service is in beta

1. About this service

These terms set out the conditions for using "Shiori" (the "Service"), an AI-powered personal companion service operated and provided by SARAI, K.K. (the "Company"). The Service is currently in beta and may be changed, suspended, or discontinued without prior notice.

2. Eligibility

The Service is available only to those who have been individually invited by the Company. Signing in with a Google account is required.

3. Prohibited conduct

  • Acts that violate laws or public order and morals
  • Posting content that defames or slanders others
  • Any use that violates the terms of the Service or of the related APIs it depends on (such as the Anthropic Claude API)
  • Interfering with the operation of the Service or placing excessive load on it
  • Transferring or sharing your account
  • Reverse engineering the Service

4. About AI responses

The Service generates responses using AI (Anthropic Claude). AI responses may contain inaccurate or inappropriate content, and the Company does not guarantee their accuracy. Users use AI responses at their own responsibility.

For medical, legal, financial, or other professional matters, always consult a qualified professional. AI responses are not a substitute for such advice.

5. Use of recording and capture features

The optional features of the Service include capabilities that record information in the user's own environment, such as recording meetings and calls or logging app and browser usage. When using these features, you are responsible for any measures required under applicable laws, regulations, and etiquette — including notifying and obtaining consent from the other parties to a meeting or call and from people nearby. The Company is not responsible for any dispute with a third party arising from a user's use of the recording or capture features.

6. Handling of data

The Company does not view the content of your conversations, notes, goals, or similar data in a personally identifiable form. The administration console has no such capability either.

On the other hand, in order to improve the service, enhance quality, and ensure safety, we may use data for analysis such as AI-based summarization, trend analysis, and safety checks in an anonymized form. By using the Service, you consent to such analysis within the scope of these purposes.

Other specific handling of data is as set out in our Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual property

All intellectual property rights relating to the Service belong to the Company or to the legitimate rights holders who license their use to the Company. The license to use the Service under these terms does not constitute a transfer or license of those intellectual property rights (except to the extent necessary to use the Service). Records and documents that you create and store through the Service belong to you.

8. Plans and fees

The contents and fees of each plan are as displayed on the pricing page on the Service's website. The Service offers a Free plan and paid monthly plans as follows:

  • Free plan: a permanent free plan (not a limited-time trial).
  • Monthly plans (Shiori / Shiori Super / Shiori Prime): monthly subscriptions that provide access to high-quality AI and voice features without requiring separate contracts with AI providers or API-key setup. Fees and usage allowances are shown on the pricing page. Billing begins when you subscribe and renews automatically each month through Stripe.

After payment in each billing cycle, your balance is replenished up to the credit amount remaining after the disclosed payment processing fee is deducted. The amount charged, processing fee, and credit granted are displayed on the final confirmation screen before subscription. On an ordinary monthly renewal, unused credit does not roll over to the next billing cycle.

An upgrade takes effect immediately. A new one-month billing cycle begins at the time of the change, and the full monthly fee for the new plan is charged. Any valid unused balance at the time of the change is added to the new plan's credit grant and carried into that new billing cycle only. Expired credit and credit already used are not carried over. A downgrade takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle.

Plan specifications such as the number of responses may be revised according to operating conditions and actual usage. If there is a significant change, we will notify you within the Shiori interface.

9. Invitations (beta period)

During the beta period, the Company may offer an invitation mechanism through which users can invite others to the Service.

  • The number of invitations is limited (up to 5 people per user per recruitment phase; the limit and reset policy may change).
  • Invitations carry no monetary rewards, credits, or other benefits.
  • If fraudulent use is found — such as creating large numbers of accounts — the Company may suspend invitation quotas or restrict the account.

10. Cancellation and payment records

Paid plans are monthly subscriptions that renew automatically through Stripe. You may cancel at any time after signing in under "Account" → "Billing" (Stripe Customer Portal). You may also change plans there. Upgrades take effect immediately under the conditions stated in Section 8; downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing cycle. Cancellation stops automatic renewal at the end of the current billing cycle, and no subsequent charge will occur. Except where required by law or where the Company is responsible, payments for an elapsed billing cycle are non-refundable. Payment history and receipts are available under "Account" → "Payment history and receipts".

11. Disclaimer

  • Because the Service is in beta, features may be changed or suspended and data may be deleted without prior notice
  • The Company is not liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from the Service or from AI responses
  • Users use the Service at their own responsibility and must make important decisions without relying solely on AI responses

12. Changes to and termination of the service

The Company may change, suspend, or discontinue the contents of the Service without prior notice. In such cases, data you have saved may be deleted. Please export and save important data on your own.

13. Changes to these terms

The Company may change these terms without prior notice. If there is a significant change, we will notify you within the Shiori interface.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are interpreted in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any dispute concerning the Service shall be subject to the exclusive agreed jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance.

15. Governing language

The Japanese text of these terms is the authoritative, official version. The English version and any other translations are provided for reference only. In the event of any discrepancy between the Japanese version and a translation, the Japanese version prevails.
